"We did enough to win the game today," Maresca said in his post-match press conference. "Between the first and second halves, we created enough chances, but we need to be clinical. Unfortunately, we conceded late, but overall, I believe we deserved the win."
On Nicolas Jackson’s Struggles
Maresca also addressed Nicolas Jackson’s performance, as the Senegalese forward missed multiple opportunities to extend Chelsea’s lead. Jackson has now scored just once in his last seven matches, but Maresca remains optimistic about the striker's potential.
"For a striker, sometimes they convert every chance, and other times, they don't. He had two or three clear opportunities today, which shows he’s in the right places. Hopefully, next time he’ll be more fortunate," Maresca stated.
"The key is creating chances—it means we’re doing the right things. But we also need to take those chances. We’re working on increasing intensity during training to prepare for matches. Even though we’re among the top teams in terms of scoring goals, there’s always room to improve."
