Acclaimed filmmaker Jeff Baena, known for directing movies like Life After Beth and The Little Hours, has tragically passed away. He was 47.
Law enforcement sources confirmed that police and fire officials responded to a call for a death investigation around 10:30 AM on Friday, after Baena’s assistant found him unresponsive at his Los Angeles-area home. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

TMZ reports that Baena, who was married to actress Aubrey Plaza, died by suicide.
A graduate of New York University’s film program, Baena began his career working under esteemed directors Robert Zemeckis and David O. Russell. His collaboration with Russell was especially formative, as they co-wrote four screenplays, including the 2004 cult classic I Heart Huckabees, starring Dustin Hoffman and Lily Tomlin.
