Dani Olmo and Pau Víctor have been granted temporary playing registrations while Spain's top sports court continues to review Barcelona's case against LaLiga and the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF).
The Consejo Superior de Deportes (CSD) has ruled that both players should be available for selection until a final decision is made in the ongoing case.
Olmo and Víctor were unregistered by LaLiga on December 31 after Barcelona missed a deadline to prove compliance with the league's financial fair play (FFP) regulations. However, LaLiga confirmed on January 3 that Barça had met certain FFP requirements, leading to an extension of their spending cap.
Despite this, LaLiga, in collaboration with the RFEF, stated that players whose registrations had been canceled cannot be re-registered by the same club within the same season. In response, Barcelona appealed to the CSD, challenging the interpretation of the rule and submitted a 52-page report outlining their argument.
While the final decision could take up to three months, the CSD has allowed both Olmo and Víctor to play for Barcelona in the meantime. Unfortunately, this comes too late for them to feature in Wednesday's Spanish Supercopa semifinal against Athletic Club. However, should Barcelona advance to the final, both players will be available to compete in Sunday’s match against Real Madrid or Mallorca.
Olmo and Víctor joined Barcelona permanently last summer but were initially registered temporarily through a rule that allows clubs to allocate up to 80% of the salary of an injured player— in this case, Andreas Christensen— to replace them.
